PM visits Chitral to review relief, rehabilitation activities

CHITRAL, Oct 28 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
Wednesday reviewed the relief and rehabilitation activities underway
in Chitral and adjoining areas following the damages caused by the 8.1
magnitude earthquake that rocked cities as far away as Doha.

Prime Minister Sharif accompanied with Information Minister
Pervaiz Rashid and PML-N leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was briefed about
the damages to life and property in the area, after the earthquake
on Monday. NDMA and NHA chairmen also accompanied the Prime
Minister.
General Officer Commanding Malakand Major General Nadir Khan
briefed the Prime Minister about the quick response and rescue measures
and medical relief given to the affected people.
He was informed that the army teams were combing the vast area
to search for remaining victims trapped in collapsed buildings.
The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the civilian
organisations and the armed forces in reaching out to the affected
population.
