RAWALPINDI, May 09 (APP):Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Thursday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar would perform groundbreaking of Mother and Child Hospital on May 10.
Addressing a press conference at under construction Mother and Child Hospital Eid Gah Sharif here he said that a state of art hospital equipped with latest gadgets along with 400 beds would be established.
He said that recently the hospital had 11most modern operation theaters which would be enhanced to 17. The construction of the hospital was inaugurated on April 8, 2005 but not completed so far.
Sheikh Rashid said that there is a dire need to make the Mother and Child Hospital functional as soon as possible to end the rush on three government hospitals. The three hospitals are not in a position to accommodate more patients,” he added.
“The minister was hopeful that the new hospitals will be made functional as soon as possible,” he said.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed thanked former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar who directed to initiate Mother and Child Hospital project in the best interest of the public.
For the first time in the country’s history, Pakistan Railways has become a profit earning entity. Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that Pakistan Railways recorded an increase of 5 billion rupees in the revenue till now. The Minister, however, said that International conspiracy is being hatched to derail Pakistan Railway. He said that Sir Syed Express would be started June 15 that would run between Rawalpindi and Karachi.
Sheikh Rashid said the government is taking special interest in laying a network of schools, colleges and institutions adding that more educational institutions are being built in the city.
He said that the Expressway would start from the Swan Bridge to Peshawar Mor to facilitate maximum people, adding the project would change fate of the citizens particularly living along the Lai Nullah as the citizens would be allowed to construct eight stories commercial buildings along the road.
Sheikh Rashid said ML-1 from Karachi to Peshawar of 1700 kilometers long would change the entire look of Pakistan Railways and bring economic revolution in the country. With the up-gradation of the track, the minimum speed of trains would be 160 km per hour and Lahore to Karachi route would be covered in less time, he said.
