PM to perform ground-breaking of Lahore Eastern By-pass on Friday

ISLAMABAD, Sept 1 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will perform the ground-breaking of Lahore Eastern By- pass project at Kalashah Kaku on Friday.

The six-lane 16.5 kilometer Lahore Eastern By-pass
project will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 28
billion and the speed limit at the by-pass will be 120 kms
per hour.

The by-pass project has special significance as it
will connect with Lahore Ring Road – 3.3 kilometers away from Niazi Interchange.

This by-pass, which will start from Mehmood Booti
Interchange at Lahore Ring Road will culminate at Kalashah
Kaku Interchange – the junction of GT Road and Lahore-
Islamabad Motorway.

The construction of this by-pass will facilitate the
traffic at GT Road moving towards eastern and northern Lahore, besides curbing the heavy flow of traffic between Kalashah Kaku and Lahore at Ravi Bridge and GT Road.

Keeping in view the Punjab government’s proposed Shahi
Bagh Park project, this by-pass will also help open the way
for development of tourism and trade in the area.

The process of land acquisition for the project is going on at a fast pace and the cooperation of Lahore Development Authority, Punjab Irrigation Department and Pakistan Railways will be sought for its completion.

The construction of Lahore Eastern By-pass will not
only help regulate traffic within the city, but will also
ensure the uninterrupted flow of heavy inter-city traffic
without entering the Lahore city.
