PM Shehbaz extends Islamic New Year greetings, calls for peace, unity & support for oppressed Muslims

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri, expressing hope that the year will bring peace, prosperity and stability to the entire world.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri, expressing hope that the year will bring peace, prosperity and stability to the entire world.
In a message issued on the occasion of 1st Muharram, the prime minister prayed that the new Hijri year would serve as a harbinger of peace and well-being not only for the Muslim world but also for all humanity. He expressed the hope that every day of the new year would promote global peace, tolerance, harmony, peaceful coexistence and the protection of human life.
The prime minister welcomed what he described as the encouraging development of the new Islamic year beginning with news of a peaceful resolution to a major dispute involving Iran and the United States. He said the nation deserved congratulations for Pakistan’s sincere efforts in promoting peace, adding that dialogue, mutual understanding and peaceful diplomacy reflect the true spirit of Islamic teachings and the noble example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Reflecting on the significance of the Hijri calendar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the beginning of the new year serves as a reminder of the historic migration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He noted that one of the most significant outcomes of the Hijrah was the establishment of an exemplary society and state founded on Islamic principles, which transformed the course of human history through faith, justice, equality, brotherhood and service to humanity.
He said the Hijrah imparted enduring lessons of brotherhood, sacrifice, mutual trust, discipline, justice and collective responsibility, emphasizing that lasting solutions to contemporary challenges lie in following these principles and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
The prime minister also highlighted the significance of Muharram-ul-Haram as a time to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in the Battle of Karbala. He said their unwavering courage and commitment against oppression remain a timeless source of inspiration for Muslims around the world.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting oppressed communities, the prime minister called for renewed resolve to stand firmly with suffering Muslims across the globe, particularly in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and to continue advocating for their rights.
Urging citizens to embrace the values of honesty, hard work, mutual respect, tolerance and national unity, the prime minister called upon Pakistanis to contribute positively to the country’s development, stability and prosperity through their conduct and actions.
Concluding his message, he prayed that the new Islamic year brings goodness, blessings, peace and prosperity to Pakistan, the Muslim world and the entire international community.
