The Prime Minister said that the decision has been taken to reduce the burden on the common man. He added that, in line with his commitment, the government will provide as much relief as possible to the people during these difficult circumstances.
He said that the global economy is currently under pressure due to tensions in the region, which could have significant effects on Pakistan’s economy.
The Prime Minister said that through timely policy-making, government savings measures and financial discipline, efforts are being made to deal with this situation in the best possible manner.
He stated that as a servant of Pakistan, he has resolved to begin reducing the burden on the poor by starting with the country’s elite and the government itself during these difficult times.
PM Shehbaz added that along with the federal government’s austerity measures, provincial governments are also fully supporting these efforts, which is a welcome development.
He further said that by the grace of Allah Almighty and due to the efforts of the diplomatic and economic teams, sufficient quantities of crude oil are available to meet the country’s requirements.
He said the federal and provincial governments are jointly ensuring that no one charges prices higher than those fixed by the government.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that conditions at the global level will improve and stability will return to petroleum product prices in the international market.
