ISLAMABAD, Sept 21 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s unflinching stance on the Kashmir issue before the world leaders at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and
Gilgit-Baltistan Malik Ibrar Ahmed said on Wednesday.
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s address to 71st session of the UNGA, he said Nawaz Sharif stressed on the world body to play its role in resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir for bringing durable peace and stability in the South Asian region.
Talking to APP here, he said the Prime Minister raised the voice for giving the Kashmiris their legitimate right of self-determination in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Malik Ibrar said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif apprised the world about massive human rights violations being committed in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) to suppress innocent Kashmiris.
He said the Prime Minister demanded investigation into the
atrocities committed in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The chairman said Indian atrocities in Kashmir were being exposed by Pakistani leadership, and world leaders have now also started acknowledging Pakistan’s point of view.
He added the way Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif consistently raised the issue in the UN during his current term in office, was unprecedented.
Malik Ibrar appreciated the Prime Minister for giving solutions to alleviate poverty in the world, adding the Prime Minister informed the world about Pakistan’s relentless war against terrorism and about its secure nuclear programme.
The Prime Minister also stressed on peacefully resolving regional issues for ensuring security and sustainable prosperity, he added.
