ISLAMABAD, Apr 1 (APP):Prime Minister Office has directed the interior ministry and all the provincial governments to ensure security, price-control and supply of commodities during the holy month of Ramzan.
In a letter, the Prime Minister has directed to ensure holding of coordination meetings among the provinces to streamline the arrangements including security measures and notify Price Control Committees, down till field levels in all the provinces and Islamabad Capital Territory.
Physical presence of officers at Mandi’s (markets), specifically monitoring the auction process in order to keep base prices at minimum level while identification of specific items whose prices are likely to escalate, and formulating contingency plans.
The letter said that detailed duty roster in each district covering all important markets, without over stretching the officers and incorporating the services of officers of line departments and investments of magisterial powers by the concerned law departments, if required.
Performance monitoring of officers and districts on the basis of KPIs and setting success bench marks; while focus upon legal actions and fines imposed by each officer, it said and added that mobilization of volunteers to get feedback about shortages and over pricing, on Citizen Complaint Cells.
The PM Office letter has directed for holding well managed Sasta Bazars with availability of all essential commodities on control prices while special measures to control the use of loud speakers.
It said that fool proof security arrangements must be made during Taraveh prayers while regular meetings of District Price Control and Law and Order Committees headed by the respective DCs should be held.
The letter directed for surprise checking by the senior provincial officers in the district and getting daily reports from the provinces on a prescribe form. It called for uninterrupted supply of gas, electricity and water specially at the time of Sehri and Iftar.
Provision of subsidized flour, sugar, ghee/oil etc. by the provincial governments in Model Bazars only while the ministry of interior is requested to hold coordination meeting with all relevant stakeholders as soon as possible and issue instructions/ make necessary arrangements accordingly, the letter said.
It said that compliance report be submitted to this office for information of the Prime Minister.
