PM grieved over loss of lives in avalanche incident in Astore

ISLAMABAD, May 27 (APP):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in an incident of avalanche in Shounter Top area of Astore district.

At least 11 people have lost their lives, and 13 others sustained injuries in a snow avalanche that hit Astore district, Gilgit Baltistan on Friday.

The prime minister directed the relevant authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.

He prayed to Allah Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families.

In his tweet, the prime minister said due to the effects of climate change, such incidents are increasing in Pakistan.

“The whole world has to fulfill its responsibilities to protect the financially weak developing countries such as Pakistan from these harmful effects,” he added.
