PM for expansion of shelters homes for homeless people in Punjab

LAHORE, Mar 9 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday directed the Punjab government to take measures for the expansion of shelters homes for homeless people to accommodate maximum number of down-and-out people in the facilities.
Chairing a meeting to review progress on the establishment of shelters homes in Lahore and other cities across the province, the prime minister said the state was responsible to look after the downtrodden. He said the state was supposed to show compassion towards the poor segments of society.
Commissioner Lahore told the prime minister that currently, there were five shelters homes under construction in the provincial capital of which three would be opened in April and the rest in May this year.
The prime minister said that it was encouraging that the philanthropists were fully supporting that noble cause.
The prime minister was told that a governing board comprising the philanthropists would oversee the affairs of the shelters and the government would play a role of the facilitator. The meeting also deliberated over the legal aspects of the project.
