ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday stressed the need to align the country’s civil service with modern technology and international standards of public service, and its revitalisation to enhance effectiveness.

Calling the comprehensive and effective reform of the civil service a government’s priority, he directed the inclusion of input from public representatives and those of government officials in administrative and institutional reforms of the civil service.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, briefed the prime minister on the proposed civil service reforms.

He said that there was significant room for improvement in the current system of recruitment, promotion, training, and capacity building of government officials within the civil service structure.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and other relevant government officials.
