ISLAMABAD, Sept 22 (APP): Former foreign ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Hina Rabbani Khar said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif suitably raised the Kashmir issue in a well balanced and comprehensive speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

While talking to a television channel, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed the Prime Minister’s address balanced and said it covered all national and international issues, including Kashmir dispute.

He said the Prime Minister had presented Pakistan’s stance on all issues of national importance.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said after a long time Kashmir issue was highlighted in UNGA. He lauded Nawaz Sharif for courageously highlighting the Kashmir cause.

He said, terrorism was a big issue in Pakistan which wanted a peaceful Afghanistan.

Hina Rabbani Khar said Nawaz Sharif had addressed UNGA as per expectations of the nation.

She said the Prime Minister had asserted that Pakistan was a peace loving country which did not want confrontation with any country.

Hina termed the Prime Minister’s speech a need of the hour and highlighted the Kashmir issue in accordance with UNGA resolutions.

Other political leaders also hailed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for effectively raising the Kashmir issue and conveying the world leadership, Pakistan’s economic achievements and vision for regional peace.

They said the speech of Prime Minister was all encompassing and he effectively raised the Kashmir issue and presented solid proposals for promoting global and regional peace and advancing economic progress across the world.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir hailed the Prime Minister for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue.

The minister, while talking to APP said at all international forums, Pakistan was already exposing the atrocities of Indian armed forces in Occupied Kashmir and the Prime Minister highlighted the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris.

He said Pakistan had a clear stance that without the resolution of Kashmir issue sustainable peace was not possible in the region.

Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Malik Ibrar Ahmed said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s unflinching stance on the Kashmir issue before the world leaders.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s address, he said Nawaz Sharif stressed on the world body to play its role in resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir for bringing durable peace and stability in the South Asian region.

He said the PM raised the voice for giving the Kashmiris their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Malik Ibrar said PM Nawaz apprised the world about massive human rights violations being committed in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) to suppress innocent Kashmiris.

This was the fourth address of the Prime Minister to the UN General Assembly.

Member National Assembly PML(N) Maiza Hameed said it was for the first time in the history of the country that an elected Prime Minister pleaded Kashmiri’s case for their right to self determination in such a strong way.

She said the way Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presented the issue of Kashmir in front of international community was indeed unprecedented.
