ISLAMABAD, Dec 22 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, which considered a number of important agenda items and granted approval to many of them.

According to a press release of the PM Office Media Wing, the cabinet approved further application of Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance Act 1952) on all the employees of the Utility Stores Corporation for a period of six months.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman apprised the cabinet of encroachment on the Margalla Road.

The prime minister observed that law was equal for everyone. The Ministry of Defence assured complete implementation of the direction of the cabinet in this regard.
The cabinet granted its approval to amendments in the CDA Ordinance 1960. The amendments were aimed at promotion of public-private partnership projects.

It approved delegation of powers to the minister for interior over amendments in the Exit Control List, making it clear that the approval was only granted to get the judicial orders implemented. However, final approval in that regard would be sought from the cabinet after recommendations of the cabinet committee.

The cabinet committee would comprise ministers for interior and law whereas advisor on interior and accountability and secretary interior would attend its meeting on special invitation.

The cabinet approved appointments of managing director of STEDEC Technology Commercialization Corporation of Pakistan (pvt) Limited and director general of the National Institute of Oceanography.

It also granted its approval to presentation of Sixth National Census and Housing Census 2017 report to the Council of Common Interests for final approval.
The cabinet in its meeting also granted its approval to reorganization of board of directors of the Agriculture Development Bank.

The inclusion of minister for industries and production in the investment board was also granted.

The cabinet approved import of JP-5 fuel for meeting operational requirements of Pakistan Navy.

The annual performance report of NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) for the year 2019-20 and review report over power industry 2020 was submitted before the cabinet.

It was apprised that work over promotion of renewable energy was continuing. In the energy sector, a trend of competition was being encouraged, so that consumers could get inexpensive electricity. The collaboration between energy and research entities were being strengthened further so that innovations in the energy sector could be made.

The cabinet also approved decisions taken by its economic coordination committee during its meeting held on December 16, 2020.

It approved appointment of executive member of National Medical Authority under Pakistan Medical Commission Act 2020.

The appointments of members in the board of governors of PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences), Federal Medical Commission and School of Dentistry under Federal Medical Teaching Institutes Ordinance 2020 were also granted.

The cabinet also approved appointment of secretary energy as chairman of Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB), National Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (NEECA) and Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), besides appointment of board of directors in Special Technology Zones Authority.
