PM briefed over relief efforts for quake victims

DIR UPER Nov 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here Thursday was briefed about the relief operation and efforts being made for the assistance of the earthquake victims .
Upon arrival at quake hit Pana Kot of Upper Dir district,the PM was received by the Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan. Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Advisor to the Prime Minister Engr Amir Muqam and Member National Assembly from Dir Shabizada Tariqullah Khan were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner Dir Upper briefed the Prime Minister about human losses, damages to infrastructure, relief operations and compensation provided to the quake victims of Upper Dir under the PM’s Compensation Package.
The Prime Minister was told that 20 people died and 162 sustained
injuries besides 7994 houses were partially damaged and 3330 houses completely destroyed in the October 26 powerful earthquake.
The DC informed that heirs of 14 dead victims and 35 injured, 1650
owners of destroyed houses were provided compensation under the PM’s Compensation package. The DC informed that assistance worth Rs550 million was provided to quake victims of Upper Dir so far.
The DC told the Prime Minister that compensation process to all victims
would be completed by November 25.
The PM was informed that 353 schools in Dir were damaged and construction work on it would soon start. The DC informed that 3447 tents, 1938 food packets, 5018 blankets besides floor mates were distributed among quake victims and relief operations in quake hit areas in large scale was in full swing.
The Prime Minister was told that Upper Dir was the worst quake affected
district where Government Departments are tirelessly working for assistance of the affected people.
Prime Minister’s visit to Dir Upper shows his deep commitment towards
assistance and rehabilitation of earthquake victims of KP. The quake victims of Dir Upper expressed joy while seeing the Prime Minister among them in this hour of need.
A Collective Dua was also offered for eternal peace of the victims and
early recovery of the injured.
