PM briefed on overall security environment in Balochistan

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was comprehensively briefed on the overall security environment in Balochistan, with a particular focus on recent terrorist incidents, ongoing intelligence-based operations, and measures being undertaken by the military and the law enforcement agencies for the safety and security of the province’s people.

QUETTA, Jul 09 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was comprehensively briefed on the overall security environment in Balochistan, with a particular focus on recent terrorist incidents, ongoing intelligence-based operations, and measures being undertaken by the military and the law enforcement agencies for the safety and security of the province’s people.

The briefing was given during the Prime Minister’s visit to Quetta on Thursday along with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

Governor Balochistan Jaffer Khan Mandokhel and Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti were also present during the visit.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the Shuhada who rendered the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and expressed solidarity with their families. He reaffirmed the support of the entire nation with its armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the people of Balochistan in the fight against terrorism.

The Prime Minister emphasized that peace in Balochistan is central to Pakistan’s stability, progress and prosperity. He highlighted that efforts of the enemies of Pakistan to stall our positive trajectory, development and progress will not be allowed to succeed.

The Prime Minister, while expressing concern at the recent incidents, acknowledged the untiring efforts and resolve of the law enforcement agencies fighting the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism in Balochistan.

He emphasized zero tolerance against terrorism in all forms in order to ensure safety and security of the people of Balochistan while expressing resolve that come what may Pakistan will crush internal and foreign-based terrorist networks attempting to undermine the security of the province.

He reaffirmed that the federal government, in close coordination with the provincial government, will continue to support all efforts aimed at eliminating terrorism, strengthening the writ of the state and ensuring that the people of Balochistan are able to pursue a future of peace, development and opportunity.
