MUZAFFARABAD, Sep 16 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad
Nawaz Sharif on Friday said he would emphatically highlight
Kashmir issue at upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Prime Minister gave the assurance to the leaders
of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) belonging to Azad
Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, in a meeting held here in the
AJK capital.

AJK’s President Sardar Masood Khan and Prime Minister
Raja Farooq Haider were also present.

The Prime Minister held the meeting with Hurriyat
leaders to take them on board before proceeding to New York where he is due to address the world leaders at the 71st UNGA session.

“Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to Kashmiris,” he said.

He said the atrocities in India Occupied Kashmir (IOK) by security forces against innocent Kashmiris had touched extremes.

“Oppression is destined to end, and truth will prevail,” he said in reference to the ongoing brutalities against Kashmiris.

He said the Kashmiris’ demand for their right to self determination was just, which had also been acknowledged by international community.

He called upon the United Nations to fulfill its obligation in accordance with its own resolutions.

Nawaz Sharif said, “The movement of Kashmiris will
ultimately succeed as the history has precedents that
such movements could not be suppressed with oppression.”

He said Pakistan would raise voice for the resolution of Kashmir dispute at all the fora.

The Prime Minister said that the spirit of freedom struggle of the people of Indian occupied Kashmir was deeply embedded
in his mind and heart which has always enabled him to vociferously advocate and raise the Kashmir issue at various forums.

The Prime Minister added that he had always conveyed the
true feelings and emotions of the Kashmiri people in his
speeches and discussions held with world leaders on various
occasions.

“I would once again highlight the Kashmir issue in my
address at the United Nations General Assembly’s (UNGA)
session and also in the bilateral meetings with world leaders
during the upcoming visit,” he added.

The Prime Minister further said that the Indian forces
have inflicted unprecedented atrocities against the innocent
people of IOK who are struggling for their just right to self
determination.

“This right of self determination was given to the people of IOK by the United Nations itself, which has unfortunately failed, so far, to implement its own resolution”, he said, adding, “Pakistan is rightly supporting this just and indigenous struggle for freedom of Indian Occupied Kashmir.”

The Prime Minister said, “Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, moral and political support reflects the commitment we made with our brothers and sisters living in IOK.”

“This commitment is strengthening with each passing day,
and the day is not far away when the struggle of Kashmiri
people will culminate at the freedom of IOK,” he added.
The Prime Minister said that the world must take stock
of the increasing atrocities against the innocent people of
IOK, adding that hundreds of freedom strugglers have been
blinded and thousands injured by the use of pellet guns in the
last few months only.

He said, “Genuine freedom struggles cannot be subdued by
injustices and use of forces. The truth ultimately wins by
defeating cruelty and injustices, which is an established
fact.”

“It is my conviction that the people of IOK will be victorious in their just struggle for independence”, emphasized the Prime Minister.

Welcoming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Hurriyat
leaders at Muzaffarabad, President AJK Masood Khan said that Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir have crossed all limits; killing hundreds of innocent people while seriously wounding thousands in the last few months.

He added that despite all the brutalities, the people of
Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) were determined in their
struggle for independence.

“The Prime Minister of Pakistan has sent special envoys
to various capitals of the world to sensitize them on the
extremely inhuman acts of the occupation forces. We are
greatly thankful to the Prime Minister, the Government and
people of Pakistan for adopting a comprehensive strategy in
this regard,” said the President AJK.

Shafi presented gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of
the All Parties Hurriyat Conference for the consultation prior
to attending the session of UNGA.

Minister for his unequivocal support to the struggle for
independence.
