ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): The committee constituted by Prime Minister to introduce reforms at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) held its first meeting on Wednesday and reviewed the institution’s administrative, medical and governance systems.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, Establishment Secretary Barrister Nabeel Awan, Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Amir Rehman and Higher Education Commission Chairman Syed Tariq Rafi, among other relevant officials.
The committee conducted a detailed review of PIMS healthcare delivery system, quality of services, patient safety, medical facilities, infrastructure and institutional affairs.
Various proposals were considered for the sustainable restructuring of PIMS, development of an effective administrative structure and establishment of a transparent governance framework.
The committee also agreed to develop a clear legal and administrative framework to translate the proposed reforms into practical measures and strengthen the overall functioning of the institution.
