PIA to operate 18 flights for stranded Pakistanis’ repatriation before Eid

ISLAMABAD, July 03 (APP): The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will operate 18 special flights with increased seating capacity to bring back around 6,132 Pakistanis, stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain due to the coronavirus pandemic travel restrictions, from July 5-18.

For this purpose, the national flag carrier’s flights have been upgraded ‘from Airbus to Boeing-777’ to take approximately 6,132 passengers from Dubai, Sharjah, Doha and Bahrain, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan said in a press statement on Saturday.
“Around 2,000 more seats will be added through aircraft’s up-gradation before Eid-ul-Azha,” he said

From the UAE, as many as 3,394 passengers would be airlifted through 10 flights between July 5 to 16, while around 2016 passengers from Doha with six flights from July 6-18, and approximately 722 passengers from Bahrain in two flights between July 9-11.

Meanwhile sharing the flight schedule, the Aviation Division said the PIA on July 6 would operate two flights Dubai-Islamabad and one flight Dubai-Lahore; on July 7 one flight Sharjah-Karachi; on July 8 two flights Dubai-Karachi and Dubai-Islamabad; on July 9 two flights Dubai-Islamabad and Dubai-Lahore; and on July 16 two flights Dubai-Islamabad and Dubai-Lahore.

Similarly, the national flag-carrier would operate one flight each on July 6, 9, 11, 13, 16 & 18 from Doha to Islamabad; whereas one flight each on July 9 & 10 Bahrain-Lahore and Bahrain-Islamabad respectively.
