ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) has offered its services to help the earthquake affected
people by airlifting relief goods free of charge from
domestic and international destinations.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by PIA Chairman
Nasser NS Jaffer held at PIA head office to assess the
situation and the airline’s readiness to set up collection points
for relief goods.
PIA has already activated its Emergency
Response Centres (ERC) at Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and
Peshawar to facilitate relief efforts for the earthquake victims,
said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
There is a defined checklist procedure in place which would
be adopted, if the relief operation was demanded by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Federal Government.
