ISLAMABAD, Oct 04 (APP):Pharmacy services have formally begun in Islamabad with pharmacists’ professional responsibilities and job descriptions notified under the ICT TGR Rules, marking a significant step towards strengthening pharmacy practice and patient safety in the capital.
According to an official of Pakistan Pharmacists Association (Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan), the notification formally recognizes pharmacy services as part of pharmacists’ defined professional responsibilities and provides a framework for their practical implementation.
The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control (PS&DC), ICT, has expressed its commitment to implementing the services effectively to improve public health, patient safety and the quality of healthcare delivery.
The development is expected to provide pharmacists with a clearly defined role within the healthcare system and enable them to contribute more effectively to the safe, rational and quality use of medicines, he added.
He said that the initiative would also help integrate pharmacists as active members of healthcare teams and strengthen medicine-related services for patients.
He said the practical implementation of pharmacy services represented an important development towards improving medication safety and ensuring better healthcare services for the public.
