ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (APP):The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF), Muhammad Shahid Hussain, has said that the Foundation has proposed the creation of additional plots to complete the PHA Officers Residencia, Kurri Road project in all respects.
In an interview with APP, he stated that approximately 34 additional plots have been proposed, subject to approval by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and resolution of public grievances through an open advertisement process.
He noted that the Management Coordination Committee (MCC) of allotees of the project, along with some individual residents, has opposed the creation of additional plots and submitted objections to the CDA.
Explaining the rationale behind the proposal, the CEO said the additional plots are intended to: 1) generate funds to complete the remaining development work; 2) prevent encroachments by residents; 3) accommodate senior officers registered with PHAF; and address the accumulated deficit of Rs 496 million.
He further stated that, in accordance with CDA by-laws, the proposal for additional plots aims to facilitate completion of key development works, including installation of streetlights, construction of a school and a community centre, and solarisation of tube wells.
It is pertinent to mention that the PHA Officers Residencia, Kurri, Islamabad project was initiated in 2012. However, after facing delays, work resumed in 2014 and the project was completed in 2022. The total land area acquired for the project spans 90.82 acres across two sites.
Under its housing and commercial components, the project comprises 588 grey-structure residential units. In addition, the mixed-use development includes two commercial-cum-residential blocks consisting of 66 apartments and 88 commercial shops.
