ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 (APP):A delegation of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Workers Group, headed by its President Pervaiz Shaukat Friday met federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain.Workers’ group president Pervaiz Shaukat briefed the Information Minister about the issues of journalists.The minister said that the government of Tehreek-e-Insaf stood with media workers and it was focusing on resolution of their problems.
“Our government has the absolute belief in the fundamental and constitutional right of freedom of expression,” the minister said.
All possible facilities will be provided for promotion of free and responsible media in the country, Chaudhry Fawad said.
He said that new media regulatory authority was being set up and providing facilities to the media and public through one window operation.
He said that board of the regulatory authority would be independent having representation from private sector. The government had constituted a new wage board and its first meeting would be held on December 27, he added.
He said that there was a proposal to organize training courses for capacity building of media professionals.
