ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP): The federal government has reduced the prices of petroleum products for October 2026, with the revised rates taking effect from October 1, providing a marginal relief to consumers amid fluctuations in international oil markets.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Wednesday, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been cut by Rs1.89 per litre, bringing it down from Rs402.24 to Rs400.35 per litre.
The price of Motor Spirit (MS), commonly used as petrol, has also been reduced, though by a much smaller margin of Rs0.14 per litre. Its price has been revised from Rs387.54 to Rs387.40 per litre.
The revised rates were notified on the basis of ex-depot prices determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The Petroleum Division said the adjustments reflected developments in the international market, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other related costs.
The reduction in fuel prices comes as global oil-market movements continue to influence domestic petroleum rates, with international prices and associated import costs playing a key role in determining the monthly adjustments in Pakistan.
