LAHORE, July 2 (APP): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting
and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Saturday urged the people especially philanthropists not to donate such institutions and organizations which were spearding terrorism, extremism and hatred.
Those which were promoting healthy activities in the society and playing eminent role in overall betterment of the country, deserved such donations, he added.
Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by Sundas Foundation (SF)
here, the minister said many institutions utilized these donations for
the collective good of society, but unfortunately a number of others
used the same in a way which created unrest, enmity, extremism and intolerance.
Donors and philanthropists, he said, must not provide such resources
to institutions and organizations which were persuading individuals,
particularly youth, to indulge in extremism and terrorism, by inculcating
the ideology of hatred and chaos.
He appealed to the philanthropists to provide more resources to the institutions which were serving the ailing humanity and fighting against
social evils.
The minister appreciated the Sundas Foundation for serving the
people, especially children suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia and
other blood diseases.
He also lauded the commendable services of Munnu Bhai, Chairman
of Sundas Foundation, in this sacred cause as well as his great work in
the media.
The minister also thanked all those segments of society supporting
the noble cause through their donations and services.
Pervaiz Rashid said he was thankful to the Foundation’s children,
who prayed for the early recovery of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
On this occasion, Munnu Bhai lauded Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Information Minister for extending support to the Foundation in controlling the blood diseases.
He said thalassemia had in most cases been affecting badly the
families of cousin marriage, therefore, blood tests must be got
conducted before going for a cousin marriage. If both male and female
were carriers of this disease then they should not be tied in the wedlock
as the fatal thalassemia would transfer into their children, he advised.
He also called upon the media for playing its effective role in creating awareness among the masses about thalassemia and other blood diseases.
SF President Yasin Khan, senior journalists, Lahore Press Club President Shahbaz Mian and General Secretary Shadab Riaz were also
present.
