KARACHI, Oct 24 (APP): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting
and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday stressed the need for undertaking concerted efforts to make Pakistan a peaceful, developed and prosperous country.

Addressing a ceremony organised by the Pakistan Disabled Foundation
in connection with International Day of Polio here, the minister said
he was happy to be at a function organized by an organisation that was serving the ailing humanity. The head of that organization was himself a special person and thus fully understood their problems, he added.

He advised the people to be careful while extending financial support
and donations so that the money reached genuine welfare organisations that were serving those in need.

The minister also cautioned that donations should not be given to
those who were spreading hatred and were involved in negative activities.

He was of the view that the usage of the word “disability” should
be shunned and instead some good words be used for the special persons.

Pervaiz Rashid paid tributes to those polio workers who had
sacrificed their lives in line of duty and thus served the cause of humanity.

Earlier, the chief of the Pakistan Disabled Foundation, Shahid Ahmed
Memon, welcomed the minister.

Shahid Memon also briefed the minister regarding the activities and
programmes of the Foundation.

He said that polio workers were performing their duties with national
spirit and for the betterment of fellow human beings.
