Pervaiz asks religious scholars to promote inter-faith harmony, fight sectarianism

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27 (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Tuesday called on religious scholars from all schools of thought to work for the promotion of inter-faith harmony, and defeat of sectarianism and extremism.

Talking to a delegation of Markazi Imam Hussain Council led by Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi here, the minister said Islam is a religion of peace and peaceful coexistence. The Islamic scholars of the past and Sufi saints, he said, spread the message of love and tolerance, and due to their efforts people of the sub-continent embraced Islam.
