ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has announced the PEC Excellence Awards 2023, under which a total of 30 eminent engineers will be honored in eight categories for their outstanding contributions to the nation.
The award ceremony will be held on August 29, where the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi will confer awards to the winners. An independent committee was constituted to review nominations and finalize the selection of engineers for the prestigious awards.
In the Lifetime Achievement category, the PEC Excellence Award will be conferred upon Engr Muhammad Mazhar Ul Islam, Engr Dr Tabassum Zahoor, Engr Muhammad Abdul Qadir Jhanagir Durrani, Engr Dr Tahir Masood, Engr Amjad Saeed, Engr Dr Masroor Ahmed, Engr Ejaz Hussain, Engr Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, and Engr Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid.
In the Academia and Research category, awards will go to Engr Prof Dr Muhammad Tufail, Engr Prof Dr Madad Ali Shah, Engr Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, and Engr Prof Dr Osman Hasan. Similarly, in the Innovation and Emerging Technology Development category, awards will be given to Engr Syed Nihal Asghar, Engr Dr Ajaz Bashir Janjua, Engr Iftikhar Ahmed, and Engr Hafiz Imtiaz Ahmed.
In the Young Technopreneurs category, the PEC Excellence Award will be presented to Engr Dr Salman Raza Naqvi and Engr Dr Muhammad Zakir Shiekh.
In the category of Engineering Policy, Regulations and Advocacy, the awards will be given to Engr Dr Nasir Mehmood Khan, Engr Muhammad Chohan, Engr Syed Nafasat Raza, and Engr Fakhar Un Nisa.
For Engineering Consultancy Services, the awardees include Engr Mushtaq Hussain Dawood, Engr Fahim Iqbal Siddiqui, and Engr Ahsan Azhar Siddiqui, while in the Infrastructure/Construction Industry category, awards will be conferred upon Engr Rashid Aziz, Engr Rashid Ahmed, Engr Barkatullah Kakar, and Engr Muhammad Imran Khan Cheema.
Chairman PEC, Engr Waseem Nazir, congratulated all the award-winning engineers and appreciated their remarkable services, stating that these awards reflect PEC’s commitment to recognizing excellence in the engineering profession and inspiring the future generation of engineers.
He said that engineers are the backbone of national development and their contributions in diverse fields are vital for Pakistan’s progress.
He added that PEC will continue to encourage and facilitate engineers in achieving global standards of innovation, research, and professional growth.
