LAHORE, Oct 25 (APP):The PDMA Punjab has issued a notification declaring the flood-affected districts as disaster-affected areas.
According to a notification, 72 tehsils of 27 districts have been declared disaster-affected in terms of villages. Villages with more than 50 percent affected have been declared disaster-affected.
The notification was issued in collaboration with the Board of Revenue Punjab and PDMA, this decision was taken under the Punjab National Disasters Prevention and Relief Act 1958.
The district administration has been directed to expedite immediate rehabilitation and relief activities in the affected areas and to assess the losses of the affected families and complete the process of financial assistance as soon as possible.
DG PDMA says that teams have been formed by the Relief Commissioner Punjab for monitoring. Land revenue and irrigation will not be collected during the Kharif season this year. Farmers who have suffered losses can get relief, waiver or deferment of agricultural loans. Relief camps will be ensured for the affected families.
Meanwhile, PDMA and the district government will launch projects for the rehabilitation of roads, drainage, schools, health centers and houses in these areas.
