PBM E-Kachehri puts public grievances on fast track

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), under the leadership of Managing Director Senator Capt Shaheen Khalid Butt, held a virtual E-Kachehri at its headquarters on Thursday, bringing citizens from across the country directly before senior officials to air grievances and seek urgent assistance for medical treatment, education, financial hardship and rehabilitation through a transparent, technology enabled mechanism.
The one hour interactive session provided beneficiaries and members of the public an immediate channel to present their cases without the need for physical visits to government offices.
Participants from different parts of the country raised concerns mainly relating to medical assistance, educational stipends, eligibility for PBM support and pressing financial difficulties.
Senator Capt Shaheen Khalid Butt personally heard the cases, examined the issues in real time and directed relevant departments to take prompt measures for their resolution.
The initiative underscored PBM’s effort to make social protection more accessible, responsive and citizen centric, particularly for vulnerable segments seeking assistance during times of financial distress.
Speaking during the session, the Managing Director said the growing scale and complexity of poverty related challenges demanded a proactive, inclusive and technology driven approach to social protection.
Senator Shaheen stressed that institutions dealing with vulnerable communities must continuously improve mechanisms for identifying genuine needs, assessing cases efficiently and delivering assistance without unnecessary delays.
Senator Capt Shaheen directed PBM officers to further strengthen digitalisation, transparency, accountability and inter departmental coordination so that public complaints could be processed and resolved swiftly.
He said technology should serve as a bridge between deserving citizens and state support, enabling people to access assistance with greater dignity and fewer administrative hurdles.
The Managing Director reaffirmed PBM’s commitment to ensuring that deserving citizens receive timely, transparent and dignified assistance, saying effective grievance redressal remained central to people centred public service.
The virtual E-Kachehri forms part of PBM’s broader effort to bring its welfare services closer to citizens and establish a more direct feedback mechanism for identifying gaps in service delivery.
By taking complaints directly from beneficiaries and issuing directions during the session itself, PBM sought to turn the traditional grievance process into a faster, more transparent and accountable system of public relief.
