PAL postpones International Writers’ Conference amid security concerns

ISLAMABAD, Mar 16 (APP):Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has postponed its international conference titled “Literature, World Peace, and the Environment” in view of the ongoing security situation in the region.
The event was earlier scheduled to be held from April 3 to April 5, 2026, as part of the Academy’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The conference was set to host writers and intellectuals from across Pakistan’s four provinces, along with participants from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Distinguished international delegates from the United States, Brazil, Azerbaijan, New Zealand, Palestine, Algeria, Germany, Türkiye, Scotland, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam were also expected to participate.
Citing the prevailing regional conflict and related security concerns, the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has, after consultation, decided to postpone the international conference for the time being to ensure the safety of all delegates.
The new date for the conference will be announced once conditions allow for a safe and peaceful environment.
