ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP):Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), under the auspices of the National Heritage and Culture Division, hosted a Muqalma (dialogue session) on Tuesday with renowned poet, author, distinguished scholar, and literary figure Shamim Ikramul Haq, in recognition of her valuable academic and literary contributions.
This Muqalma was part of PAL’s ongoing literary series “Ahl-e-Qalam Se Miliye” — “Meet the Writers.”
The event was held at the residence of Shamim Ikramul Haq in Bahria Town due to her deteriorating health.
Attendees included Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairperson of the PAL, key members of the Academy’s staff, and a select few from the literary community. The intimate gathering was both gracious and respectful, reflecting the esteemed stature of the guest of honour.
The purpose of the event was to celebrate the intellectual and creative achievements of prominent literary personalities in Pakistan. The session provided a platform for close dialogue, allowing attendees to engage directly with the celebrated writer.
Dr. Najeeba Arif expressed her deep appreciation for Shamim Ikramul Haq’s decades-long contribution to Urdu literature and literary research. She noted that such dialogues are vital for bridging the gap between writers and readers and for preserving Pakistan’s rich literary heritage.
This literary gathering not only paid tribute to Shamim Ikramul Haq’s scholarly legacy but also highlighted the Academy’s commitment to fostering a culture of literary appreciation and intellectual exchange in Pakistan.
