PAL hosts Majlis-e-Masalma in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram

ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (APP):Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) organized a Majlis-e-Masalma in connection with the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram the other day to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of the Battle of Karbala.
The event was presided over by renowned poet Naseem Sahar, while eminent poet Inaam Nadeem, who came especially from Karachi, was the chief guest.
Guests of honour included Qayoom Tahir, Mehboob Zafar, and Akhtar Usman.
On behalf of the Academy, its Director, Muhammad Asim Butt, welcomed the honourable guests and attendees.
In his presidential address, Naseem Sahar lauded PAL for organizing the Majlis-e-Masalma and expressed gratitude for the initiative.
In his concluding remarks, the Executive Director of the Academy, Sultan Nasir, stated that as per tradition, the Academy holds this solemn event every Muharram-ul-Haram to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. He added that this year the event was slightly delayed due to renovation and restoration activities at the Sheikh Ayaz Conference Hall.
He thanked the distinguished guests and the audience for taking the time to attend the event.
A large number of poets paid poetic homage to the martyrs of Karbala through salaam, manqabat, and elegiac poems.
Those who presented their tributes included Naseem Sahar, Qayoom Tahir, Inaam Nadeem, Mehboob Zafar, Akhtar Usman, Dr. Farhat Abbas, among others.
Distinguished members of the Academy’s Board of Governors also attended the gathering.
