ISLAMABAD, June 30 (APP): Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, Tuesday, reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the full and effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

She received a visiting delegation of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

Earlier, the delegation was briefed by Additional Foreign Secretary/Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi on Pakistan’s implementation of the convention, its broader disarmament and non-proliferation priorities, and its constructive engagement within the OPCW.

Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to effective CWC implementation reaffirmed

The delegation forms part of a distinguished gathering of 19 experts/representatives from 16 countries participating in the Forum on the Peaceful Uses of Chemistry, being held in Islamabad from 30 June–2 July.

“Jointly organised by Pakistan and OPCW under Article XI of the CWC, the forum brings together international experts and regional delegates to advance cooperation on chemical safety and security, integrated chemicals management, responsible conduct in science, and the peaceful uses of chemistry,” it was added.
