Pakistan’s digital transformation crucial to meet economic, administrative challenges: President

ISLAMABAD, Jun 25 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi Thursday while underscoring the need for Pakistan’s digital transformation, said the step would prove to be a major milestone towards the development of national economy.

Chairing the third meeting of the committee on emerging technologies, the president said the economic as well as administrative challenges could be well tackled through effective utilization of the information and communication technologies.

He said the formulation of an administrative mechanism was inevitable to help improve the government’s performance.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology Dr Attaur Rehman, Secretary Information Technology Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and Special Secretary Commerce Muhammad Saleh Farooqui besides, Deputy Governor of State Bank of Pakistan Jameel Ahmed, committee members and provincial secretaries of information technology ministries.

In their virtual briefings from their respective provincial capitals, the committee members highlighted importance of e-commerce, export of information technology and innovations of the emerging technologies.
