ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP):The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday reiterated that Pakistan’s commitment to the security of Haramain Sharifain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was non-negotiable, while terming recent reports regarding the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement speculative.
Taking note of speculative reports by Reuters regarding the agreement, the ministry said Pakistan had already made its commitment to the security of Haramain Sharifain and Saudi Arabia abundantly clear.
It said the operational details concerning the actualisation of collective deterrence were a matter of operational confidentiality and should not be made the subject of media speculation.
The ministry said it would be prudent to avoid reports based on non-attributable and unidentified sources, adding that media outlets should refer to official statements issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant authorities in this regard.
“Queries, if any, may be referred to them instead of coming out with invented numbers and details,” the ministry said.
