Pakistanis in KSA urged not to share images, videos or unverified reports of drone attacks: Ashrafi

ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (APP):Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Secretary-General of the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council and Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Tuesday urged Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia to exercise maximum responsibility and caution amid the prevailing sensitive situation and refrain from sharing on social media images or videos of drone and missile attacks by the Houthi rebels, interception operations, debris, security installations or sensitive locations.
He urged the Pakistani community to fully comply with the directives of the Saudi Ministry of Interior and other relevant authorities as well as the laws of the Kingdom.
Ashrafi called on Pakistanis to refrain from circulating unverified news and rumours, sharing information concerning sensitive locations or incidents, or making comments that could contravene Saudi laws or security instructions.
He said irresponsible use of social media in the current circumstances could contribute to fear, panic and the spread of misinformation.
“For information concerning any incident, people should rely only on official and credible Saudi sources,” he said.
Ashrafi also appealed to Pakistani religious scholars, community leaders and social organisations in Saudi Arabia to convey the message to the wider Pakistani community and extend full cooperation to the Saudi authorities in maintaining peace and security.
“Saudi Arabia is our brotherly country and the land of the Two Holy Mosques. Respecting its laws, adhering to the requirements of peace and security, and demonstrating responsible conduct in the current circumstances is the responsibility of every Pakistani,” he added.
