BAKU, Aug 22 (APP):The Pakistani National Team of Qazaq Kuresi, comprising Ms. Iran Shehzadi (48 kg) and Mr. Mohammad Ehtisham (74 kg), represented Pakistan in the Qazaq Kuresi World Championship, being held at the Baku Sports Palace in Azerbaijan from 22 to 23 August 2026.
The championship, organized under the auspices of United World Wrestling (UWW), has brought together athletes from various countries to compete in Qazaq Kuresi, the traditional Kazakh style of wrestling.
The participation of the Pakistani team reflects the growing sports cooperation and close people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. It also provided Pakistani athletes with an opportunity to gain international experience and further promote Pakistan’s presence in traditional wrestling.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Baku appreciated the invitation extended by the Azerbaijan National Sports Association and the participation of the Pakistani team in the championship.
