Pakistani parliamentary delegation to attend UN Parliamentary Hearing

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP): A high-level parliamentary delegation led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will represent Pakistan at the Annual Parliamentary Hearing at the United Nations, scheduled to take place on Feb 12–13 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The delegation will participate in multiple sessions focusing on themes such as strengthening cooperation between the UN and national parliaments, translating global commitments into national action, safeguarding democracy, and ensuring sustainable financing for the UN’s future role.
On the sidelines of the event, Senate Chairman Gilani is expected to meet the President of the UN General Assembly and the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The delegation also includes Senators Farooq H Naek, Muhammad Abdul Qadir and Faisal Ali Subzwari.
The Annual Parliamentary Hearing is a global forum jointly organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations, bringing together parliamentarians, diplomats, experts and civil society representatives to discuss major international challenges and promote cooperation between national legislatures and the UN system.
Held this year under the theme “Parliaments and the United Nations: Better together, delivering for the people,” the session will focus on advancing peace, sustainable development, democratic governance and multilateral cooperation, as well as contributions to ongoing UN reform initiatives.
