Pakistani-origin surgeon completes 400 robotic procedures in UK

ISLAMABAD, Oct 01 (APP): Pakistani-origin Gynaecologist and Robotic Surgeon Dr Amir Raza has completed more than 400 procedures using single-port robotic surgery, marking a significant milestone in advanced gynaecological surgery in the United Kingdom.
Dr Amir Raza, a graduate of Nishtar Medical College Multan, is currently serving as Lead Consultant for Endometriosis and Robotic Surgery at Cromwell Hospital, London.
Under his leadership, the hospital’s robotic surgery programme has expanded the use of single-port technology for the treatment of complex endometriosis cases.
Dr Amir Raza said conventional multi-port robotic surgery generally requires several small incisions in the abdomen, whereas the single-port technique allows the camera and robotic instruments to be introduced through a single access point.
The technique enables surgeons to perform complex procedures with fewer incisions and represents an advancement in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
The development also reflects the growing use of advanced robotic technology in the management of complex gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis.
