Pakistani missions worldwide mark Youm-E-Istehsal-E-Kashmir, reiterate support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination
ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (APP):Pakistan’s diplomatic missions across the world observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir on Wednesday with seminars, commemorative ceremonies, documentary screenings and public outreach events, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while condemning India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019 ripping off the special status of the occupied valley.
Events were held at Pakistan’s missions in Beijing, Kabul, Tehran, London, Astana, Singapore, Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur, Dar-es-Salaam, Moscow, Colombo and Dubai, where diplomats, parliamentarians, academics, community leaders, media representatives and members of the Pakistani diaspora gathered to mark the day observed annually against India’s revocation of the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), a news release said.
In Beijing, the Embassy of Pakistan organized a solemn ceremony reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause. Messages from Pakistan’s leadership condemned India’s actions and reiterated support for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions providing for the settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices.
The ceremony featured remarks by Qian Feng of Tsinghua University’s National Strategy Institute and Cheng Xizhong of the Charhar Institute, who highlighted the importance of a peaceful and just resolution of the dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires, Aizaz Khan, criticized India’s policies in IIOJK, describing them as contrary to international law and relevant UN resolutions. A documentary and photographic exhibition depicting the situation in IIOJK were also presented during the event, which was attended by representatives from academia, think tanks, media and the Pakistani community.
At the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul, Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani said Pakistan’s diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination remained a cornerstone of its foreign policy. He stated that Pakistan would continue raising the Kashmir issue at international forums and maintained that India’s actions had failed to gain domestic or international legitimacy.
He also asserted that the resolve of the Kashmiri people remained steadfast despite what he described as attempts to alter the demographic composition of the occupied territory.
Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read, while a documentary on the situation in IIOJK was screened.
Similarly, the Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran organized an event marking the seventh anniversary of India’s August 5, 2019 decision. The ceremony included readings of messages from Pakistan’s leadership, a documentary highlighting developments in IIOJK, and addresses by Iranian scholar Ms. Samaneh Khalafzadeh, Hurriyat leader Syed Faiz Naqashbandi through a video message, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.
Speakers emphasized the need to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and highlighted concerns over the situation in IIOJK.
Ambassador Siddiqui said the right to self-determination remained a fundamental principle of international law and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people.
He also expressed concern over regional developments, including India’s approach towards the Indus Waters Treaty, while calling for adherence to international legal commitments.
At the Pakistan High Commission in London, a hybrid seminar was attended by British parliamentarians including Lord Qurban Hussain, Baroness Nosheena Mobarik, Afzal Khan MP and Adnan Hussain MP, along with prominent community leaders and activists.
Participants condemned India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and called for an end to alleged human rights violations in IIOJK. They also stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Addressing the seminar, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Tipu Usman, said Pakistan’s support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir “remains unwavering and unconditional.”
He urged the international community, particularly the United Kingdom, to call on India to reverse the measures taken on August 5, 2019, restore the rights and special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions recognizing the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read, while participants observed a minute of silence in memory of Kashmiri martyrs.
High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq engaged with members of the Foreign Correspondents Association, discussing Pakistan–Singapore bilateral relations, Pakistan’s economic outlook, and its efforts to promote peace, stability and regional connectivity. She also shared Pakistan’s perspectives on relations with Afghanistan and Iran, as well as its recent diplomatic efforts to help de-escalate regional tensions.
Marking Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, the High Commissioner highlighted India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. She reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend its unwavering diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of IIOJK and remains committed to a peaceful and just resolution of the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Pakistan Embassy in Astana also observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir at the Chancery. The event was attended by members of Pakistani community, students, locals and representatives of civil society.
The event expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK and condemned India’s illegal actions of 5 August 2019 and its subsequent steps aimed at undermining the internationally recognized disputed status of Indian illegal occupied Jammu and Kashmir. A photo exhibition and documentary, highlighting the egregious human rights violations in IIOJK by Indian forces were also arranged.
The Pakistan High Commission, Dhaka solemnly observed Youm-e-Istehsa-e-Kashmir to mark India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019. High Commissioner Imran Haider welcomed the guests to the commemorative event.
A photo exhibition depicting the sufferings of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation was organized on the occasion. A documentary was also screened highlighting the human rights violations, violence and persecution inflicted upon the people of IIOJK in an attempt to silence their legitimate voice.
The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community, media representatives and people from different walks of life, who expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK. Special prayers were offered for the martyrs and victims of Indian aggression and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain steadfast in their resolve for freedom, justice and the realization of their right to self-determination.
Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was observed in the High Commission of Pakistan in Dar-es-Salaam this morning. A sizable number of Pakistanis in Tanzania attended the event. A special documentary depicting the plight of Kashmiris was displayed to the audience.Members of Pakistani Community shared their views on the occasion and expressed solidarity with the Kashmiris struggling for their legitimate right of self-determination in IIOJK.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Siraj Ahmad Khan underscored Pakistan’s abiding commitment to support the just cause of Kashmir’s brave men and women, struggling for their legitimate right of self-determination, under the oppressive Indian occupation. He urged the international community, especially the UN and OIC, to play its role in resolving this long-standing dispute.
In Colombo, the Pakistan High Commission, alongside members of the diplomatic community, distinguished guests, friends of Pakistan, and the Pakistani diaspora, jointly commemorated Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir to express unwavering solidarity with the people of IIOJK.
The solemn occasion marked seven years since 5 August 2019, when Indian forces laid siege to the occupied territory, cutting off all communications and taking unilateral, illegal actions aimed at altering the internationally recognized disputed status and demographic structure of IIOJK.
Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner, Major General (R) Dr. Nayyar Naseer highlighted that for over seven decades, the Kashmir region has been embroiled in a bitter dispute, with its people enduring severe hardships and continuous struggles for their right to self-determination.
He strongly condemned the ongoing grave human rights violations, including the military siege, cordon-and-search operations, extrajudicial killings, use of pellet guns, arbitrary detentions, and draconian laws designed to suppress basic freedoms and silence the Kashmiri people.
Reminding the audience that Paradise still burns, the High Commissioner emphasized that the international community cannot remain indifferent and called on global leaders to uphold human rights and the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
In Kuala Lumpur, Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia, in collaboration with MAPIM, observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir along with Guest of Honour Cikgu Azmi Abdul Hamid (Sitara-e-Pakistan), President of MAPIM, and High Commissioner Syed Ahsan Raza Shah joined by Malaysian dignitaries, community leaders, and a large gathering of Pakistani and Malaysian friends.
The speakers strongly condemned India’s illegal unilateral revocation of the special status of IIOJK, highlighting the atrocities of the occupation forces against innocent civilians, prolonged lockdowns and efforts to alter the demographic character of the disputed territory. They demanded an independent, impartial plebiscite under UN auspices with international observers; reaffirming the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
Pakistan Embassy in Moscow observed Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir to mark the anniversary of India’s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019 and to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the people of IIOJK and their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
A documentary was also screened, highlighting the developments following the events of 5 August 2019 and their humanitarian & legal implications for the people IIOJK.
The ceremony was attended by officers and staff of the Embassy, members of the Pakistani community in the Russian Federation, representatives of the media, and invited guests.
The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir with a ceremony marking the seventh anniversary of India’s illegal unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, which aimed at altering the internationally recognized disputed status of the IIOJK. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities in the UAE.
Addressing the gathering, Consul General, Hussain Muhammad paid tribute to the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that India’s actions could neither change the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir nor diminish the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
He stressed that the dispute could only be resolved through adherence to international law and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri cause.
He also urged the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora to continue raising awareness about the human rights situation in IIOJK and contribute to the promotion of peace, justice, and human dignity. The event also featured a photo exhibition and a documentary highlighting the human rights situation in IIOJK.
