Pakistan welcomes OIC Secretary General's statement on Kashmir disputeISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP): Pakistan on Wednesday welcoming the statement by Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about Jammu and Kashmir dispute said it reaffirmed the Organization’s continued support to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people.

“The statement once again reiterated  OIC’s principled position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and India’s illegal actions of 5 August 2019, and,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said.

He said was commenting on the statement of OIC Secretary-General at a seminar entitled “730 days of hell: Kashmir under siege” organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI).

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said, “We welcome the statement by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to mark two years of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August, 2019.”

“We deeply appreciate the OIC’s consistent support towards the Kashmir Cause, through its various platforms including the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC),” he added.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said that the OIC had also adopted various resolutions on the subject, the latest of which was adopted at the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in Niamey, Niger in November 2020.

“The OIC is the second-largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations with 57 members and five observer states, spanning over four continents. It also represents the collective voice of Muslim Ummah,” he mentioned.
