ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (APP): Pakistan on Thursday warned that the “sorry state of human rights” in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) denying civilians the access to food, medicine and emergency care, could lead to a severe human catastrophe.
“With continued curfew in the Valley resulting in shortage of food, there is going be a big human tragedy,” the Foreign Office Spokesman said at a weekly press briefing.
Spokesman Nafees Zakaria urged upon the international community to take “not just notice, but steps” to avert the possible disaster.
He said the Indian security forces were involved in the genocide of innocent Kashmiris, who were being killed, injured and also faced risk of disappearances.
He mentioned that death toll of Kashmiris in three months had risen to 100 with 15,000 injured.
Also 850 civilians received eyes injuries due to pellet gunshots, leaving 160 of them completely blind, he added.
The Spokesman said stopping people in IOK to offer Friday prayers at mosques was “deplorable”.
On India’s claim of surgical strike in Pakistan, he said the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) found no proofs of such strikes.
“The observation of UNMOGIP, which has the mandate to observe activities on Line of Control, is highly valuable,” he said.
Zakaria said Pakistan had never violated the ceasefire at LoC.
“It has always been India that made violations at LoC,” he
said.
He said Pakistan had very effectively taken the issue of Indian involvement and financing of terror at its soil, at various international forums.
The Spokesman said the White House “acted rightly” to reject an Indian-based petition seeking to declare Pakistan a terror state.
He mentioned that Pakistan on Wednesday, during the visit of Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to Brussels, pledged $500 million for development projects in Afghanistan as it considered Afghan stability vital for regional peace.
