Pakistan wants to enhance relations with Turkmenistan: Asif

ISLAMABAD, July 19 (APP): Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkmenistan and wanted to enhance the relations between the two countries, Khawaja Muhammad Asif Federal Minister for Water and Power and Defense said.

The Federal Minister said this when Atadjan Movlamov,
Ambassador of Turkmenistan called on him, here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, areas of mutual interest and bilateral
cooperation in the field of energy, trade and defense came under discussion.

Federal Minister said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan being
brotherly countries are enjoying closed cordial relations in
different fields and hoped that cooperation in the fields of energy and defense would further strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Highlighting the importance of CPEC Project, the Minister said
that CPEC is the most important artery in the region and stressed that all the regional countries should make their planning to get maximum benefit from it.

He said that Pakistan will play its positive role to bring
peace in the region by fighting terrorism in all its forms and
manifestations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the economy of Pakistan is progressing and initiatives taken by the present democratic government are friendly for the international community to invest in Pakistan especially in energy and infrastructure development.

Mutual trade and people to people contact may be increased for strengthening of bilateral relations he added.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan, while appreciating the forward looking steps being taken by the Government of Pakistan and Ministry of Water & Power for the development of energy sector, assured their cooperation for enhancing bilateral engagement between the two countries in the energy, economic and defense spheres.
