Pakistan, USA reaffirm commitment to expand cooperation in multiple sectors

Pakistan and the United States on Wednesday reiterated their resolve to further expand bilateral cooperation across various fields.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP): Pakistan and the United States on Wednesday reiterated their resolve to further expand bilateral cooperation across various fields.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain and the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Natalie Baker.
During the meeting, Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted that overseas Pakistanis play a vital role in the country’s economic growth, noting that they sent $38 billion in remittances last year.
Salik described the overseas Pakistani community as a strong bridge between Pakistan and the rest of the world.
He further stated that Pakistan is exporting skilled manpower in sectors such as construction, information technology, healthcare, tourism, and others. He also emphasized that the government is taking concrete steps to curb illegal immigration.
The US Chargé d’Affaires praised the professional skills of overseas Pakistanis, stating that the United States requires a skilled workforce in various sectors and is keen to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
She added that the United States views Pakistan as an important regional partner and is interested in expanding collaboration in education, training, skills development, and human resource development.
It was also agreed during the meeting to take institutional measures to strengthen training programs, skill development initiatives, and personnel exchanges between the two countries.
