ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (APP):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah Monday said Pakistan and Turkiye enjoyed an enduring friendship based on brotherhood, mutual respect and shared affection, and that cultural festivals played an important role in bringing the people of the two countries closer.
The minister made these remarks while speaking to the media during his visit to the Third Turkish Heritage Festival, organised by the Zakat Foundation of America in Chicago.
Earlier, Imran Shah visited various cultural and informational stalls at the festival and appreciated the organisers for successfully holding the event.
He praised the arrangements and said the festival reflected the rich cultural heritage of Turkiye while promoting understanding among diverse communities.
He said it is an honour for him to represent Pakistan at the festival and expressed gratitude to the Zakat Foundation of America for inviting him to the event.
The minister said the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and the Zakat Foundation of America shared a common commitment to poverty alleviation, adding that both institutions were working to improve the lives of vulnerable communities.
He said the festival had provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and experiences on social welfare initiatives.
Imran Shah said such cultural festivals not only celebrated heritage but also strengthened people-to-people contacts and reinforced the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Turkiye.
He also welcomed the enthusiastic participation of both Muslim and non-Muslim communities, saying their presence reflected the inclusive spirit of the festival and contributed to promoting interfaith harmony, mutual understanding and social cohesion.
The federal minister commended the organisers for their efforts in making the Third Turkish Heritage Festival a success and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to promote friendship, cultural cooperation and humanitarian collaboration among communities.
