Pakistan to supply sizeable fleet of trainer jets to Turkey soon

ISLAMABAD, Jul 15 (APP): Pakistan and Turkey would soon
finalize three deals in the defence production sector with an
ultimate goal to bolster the existing cooperation in defence
production sector.

A spokesman of the Ministry of Defence Production (MODP) here on Friday confirming the news said that Pakistan would soon materialize three deals with Turkey including supply of a sizeable fleet of trainer jets to the brotherly country.

“This deal is in last stages of finalization and is going to
be signed very soon,” he said adding “It is a great achievement on part of MODP.”

Answering a question regarding the number of aircraft to be
supplied to the brotherly country, he said “Turkey is going to buy quite big number of Super Mashshaks from Pakistan.”

This deal will strengthen ties between the two brotherly
countries on one hand while on the other it will help Pakistan to earn reasonable amount of foreign exchange.

The deal is a great achievement for Pakistan Aeronautical
Complex (PAC) Kamra, which is being materialized following concerted efforts by Prime Minister Muhammad Sharif and Minister Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, PAF and PAC Kamra.

Apart from sale of Super Mashshaks, development of Fleet
Tanker by Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW), in collaboration with Turkey, is another example of close relationship in the field of defence production between the two countries.

In August 2016 inauguration ceremony for handing over of Fleet Tanker from KSEW to Pakistan Navy is being planned. High level dignitaries from both countries would attend the commissioning ceremony.

Ministry of Defence Production had already signed a contract
for Mid-Life Up-gradation of existing Agosta 90-B class submarine with a Turkish firm. It is an important defence project that will go a long way in enhancing the operational capabilities of existing submarines in the inventory of Pakistan Navy.
