ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Safron, Engineer Amir Muqam, said on Tuesday that Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on February 5 with full enthusiasm, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Chairing an inter-ministerial and inter-provincial coordination meeting at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, the minister said thousands of Kashmiris have been martyred, many remain imprisoned in Indian jails, and thousands of children have been orphaned due to the ongoing conflict.
He said the nation would mark the day by renewing its commitment to support the Kashmiri people’s just struggle in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The minister added that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government continues to highlight the Kashmir issue at all international forums, including the UN General Assembly.
Amir Muqam urged all political parties and people from all walks of life to participate in the events on February 5 to convey a united message that the government and people of Pakistan stand firmly with the Kashmiri cause.
He reiterated that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (AJK chapter), senior officials from the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, and focal persons from various federal ministries and provincial governments, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Participants reviewed the arrangements and planning for nationwide activities to be held in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, while representatives from different ministries, provincial governments and local administrations briefed the meeting on the preparations.
