ISLAMABAD, Jul 29 (APP): Pakistan has expressed interest in learning from the Ethiopia’s homegrown model of climate adaptation and resilience.

This discussion took place during a meeting between, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula and Federal Minister of Pakistan for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Masood Malik.
The Ambassador highlighted Ethiopia’s leadership in global climate and food security agendas, citing the country’s successful initiatives in achieving environment restoration, food self-sufficiency, sustainable city development, and soil and water conservation.
He mentioned the Green Legacy Initiative, under which over 40.5 billion seedlings were planted, significantly boosting forest cover and food self-sufficiency.
The Ambassador expressed Ethiopia’s willingness to share its successful concepts with Pakistan, noting that the Green Legacy Initiative is already being introduced in Pakistan through collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change.
The Federal Minister lauded Ethiopia’s remarkable progress and expressed admiration for the nation’s economic growth and greening efforts.
The Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s high vulnerability to climate change but affirmed a commitment to transforming this vulnerability into strength.
He praised the Ambassador’s role in promoting green efforts in Pakistan and expressed interest in learning from Ethiopia’s experience in building ecological security, particularly in improving agricultural productivity.
