QUETTA, Aug 04 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said Pakistan was moving in the right direction and it would have economic turnaround after the completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He termed CPEC a great blessing for Pakistan, particularly Balochistan and expressed the optimism that all areas of the country, including Balochistan, would develop and prosper with improving the standard of living of the people.

The President was talking to parliamentarians, notables and government functionaries here at the Governor House.

Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Provincial ministers Nawab Ayaz Jogezai, Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani, Nawab Jangez Khan Marri and Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Advisor to Chief Minister Sardar Raza Baraich and Obaidullah Khan Babat were also present on the occasion.

The President said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was a visionary leader who was taking right steps for the country’s development.

He praised the government’s economic team, which had devised sound economic policies due to which the country was making progress steadily.

“The economic achievements of the government have been duly acknowledged by international financial institutions. Pakistan has been dubbed as an emerging market, which bodes well for its future.”

The foreign exchange reserves, he said, had risen to the record level of $23 billion. The government had judiciously utilized loans from the International Monetary Fund for retiring the expensive foreign debt accumulated by the past governments, he added.

The President said corruption in the past had prevented Pakistan from making progress economically and urged the nation to wage ‘Jihad’ against the menace.

He advised the people to ostracize the corrupt and have zero tolerance for corruption. He expressed his satisfaction that there had been no major corruption scandal during the tenure of the present government.
