ISLAMABAD, Nov 07 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday said Pakistan is thankful to Turkiye and Qatar for mediating talks with Afghanistan, amid a deadlock in Istanbul negotiations.
In a post on X, the minister reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to its principled position that Afghanistan bears responsibility for curbing terrorism originating from its soil.
He noted that the Afghan Taliban has so far failed to fulfil its international, regional, and bilateral commitments under the 2021 Doha Agreement.
Tarar emphasized that Pakistan continues to extend goodwill towards the Afghan people and desires a peaceful future for them. However, he stressed that Pakistan will never support any measures by the Taliban government that are detrimental to the interests of the Afghan people or neighbouring countries.
He added that Pakistan will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard its citizens and protect its sovereignty.
