Pakistan, Sri Lanka discuss enhanced cooperation in IT telecom sectors
ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP):High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne (R) Tuesday called on Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja .
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and time-tested bonds of friendship between the two countries and expressed their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in information technology and telecommunications.
Both sides delved upon opportunities for greater engagement between the technology sectors of Pakistan and Srilanka, including joint ventures and partnerships between technology companies, with a view to building scale and exploring opportunities in international markets.
The discussions covered a broad range of areas, including Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, IT and IT-enabled services, digital transformation, FinTech, startups and digital skills development.
Strengthening institutional linkages between IT sectors of both countries, including constitution of joint working group to facilitate regular engagement was also proposed during the meeting.
The proposed framework would facilitate business-to-business exchanges, technology roadshows, startup linkages, FinTech cooperation and partnerships between companies of the two countries.
Maintaining close engagement to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the technology sector was agreed during the meeting.
